Symphony Space Brings Chinese Culture to Grade 3

Grade 3 had an exciting day with three visiting artists from Symphony Space, who brought the vibrant culture of China to life for the students in ways that connected directly to their studies. A calligraphy expert introduced the students to the ancient and beautiful art of Chinese calligraphy. The students learned how to create their own personal "sign" using the first letter of their name, practicing delicate brush strokes. Students also explored traditional Chinese ribbon dancing and learned to twirl colorful ribbons through the air to create stunning visual patterns. Additionally, the students were introduced to Chinese martial arts, an ancient practice that blends physical skill with mental discipline. The students watched a live demonstration of martial arts techniques and then tried out some basic movements themselves.
